The Brief
The Client & Concept
This conceptual project was created around the idea of an interior design studio specialized in Mid-Century Modern interiors.
Inspired by one of the twentieth century’s most influential design movements, MCM Studio designs residential and commercial spaces that balance timeless design with the needs of modern living.
Rather than recreating Mid-Century Modern interiors, the studio reinterprets the movement’s principles to suit the way people live and work today. The result is spaces that combine lasting aesthetics with everyday functionality.
The Challenge
Although the studio had a clear design philosophy, it lacked a brand identity and online presence capable of communicating its expertise.
Without a dedicated brand and website, there was no clear way to showcase completed projects, explain the studio’s approach, or demonstrate the level of craftsmanship behind its work. As a result, potential clients had little opportunity to understand what distinguished MCM Studio from other interior design practices.
The project therefore focused on developing both the brand and its digital presence. This included defining the studio’s positioning, messaging, visual identity, and website to create a cohesive experience that communicates its expertise and builds trust with potential clients.
Services Provided
To support these objectives, the following services were provided:
- Brand Development (Brand Positioning, Naming, Messaging, Identity)
- Visual Identity Design (Logo, Color Palette, Typography)
- Website Strategy
- Information Architecture
- Blog structure implementation
- Website Design and Development
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
The Objective
The project had two primary objectives.
The first was to establish MCM Studio as a recognizable interior design business with a clear identity rooted in the principles of Mid-Century Modern design. Rather than following short-lived trends, the identity was designed to communicate craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and enduring quality, creating a foundation that could support the studio’s long-term growth.
The second was to create a website that inspires confidence through the studio’s work, encourages visitors to explore completed projects, and provides a seamless path from discovering the studio to making an enquiry.
Brand Development
Brand Positioning
The brand was positioned around a simple idea:
Good design should feel as timeless tomorrow as it does today.
Rather than following changing design trends, MCM Studio creates interiors that combine craftsmanship, functionality, and natural materials. Every project is designed to remain relevant for years to come while supporting the way people live today.
The target audience includes homeowners, hospitality businesses, and commercial clients looking for interiors that balance aesthetics with comfort and practicality.
Brand Message
The messaging was developed to reflect MCM Studio’s approach to creating interiors that combine timeless aesthetics with modern functionality.
The tagline “Mid-Century Modern Interiors, Designed for Today” immediately communicates the studio’s specialization while emphasizing that the work is not about recreating the past, but adapting Mid-Century Modern principles to contemporary lifestyles.
Supported by the headline “Timeless Interiors, Thoughtfully Designed,” the messaging reinforces that the focus is on purposeful design, quality craftsmanship, and spaces built to remain relevant over time.
Naming
The name MCM Studio is the abbreviated form of Mid-Century Modern, which communicates the studio’s area of expertise while remaining simple, memorable, and easy to recognize.
Pairing the abbreviation with Studio reinforces the business as an established interior design practice rather than a personal portfolio, giving the brand a more professional and scalable presence.
Visual Identity
The visual identity draws inspiration from the defining characteristics of Mid-Century Modern design: clean geometry, thoughtful proportions, and understated elegance.
Logo Design
The logo combines a geometric symbol with a condensed wordmark, reflecting the studio’s architectural approach to interior design.
Its geometric construction conveys structure and precision while drawing inspiration from the clean lines and functional principles of Mid-Century Modern design.
The wordmark uses Donau, chosen for its condensed proportions and geometric character. Its distinctive letterforms reinforce the brand’s architectural aesthetic while creating a confident and recognizable presence.

Color Palette
The color palette draws inspiration from the natural materials commonly found in Mid-Century Modern interiors.
Warm neutrals and earthy tones reference materials such as wood, leather, and stone, creating a direct visual connection between the brand and the spaces the studio designs.
Darker accent colors introduce contrast and visual structure, while allowing portfolio photography to remain the primary focus throughout the website, ensuring the interiors themselves become the strongest expression of the brand.

Typography
The typography system balances distinctive branding with excellent readability across digital applications.
Donau is reserved exclusively for the logo, where its condensed proportions and geometric letterforms create a memorable brand mark.
Josefin Sans serves as the primary display typeface for headings. Its refined geometric forms complement the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic while establishing a clear visual hierarchy
Inter is used for body copy, providing excellent readability across all devices. Its neutral appearance supports longer-form reading while allowing the studio’s portfolio imagery to remain the primary visual focus.

Applying My 4-Pillar Website Framework
Every website I build is guided by four principles: business goals, brand alignment, user experience, and SEO.
The website needed to function as more than a portfolio. Its primary purpose was to help potential clients understand the studio’s design philosophy, explore previous work, and take the next step toward working with the business.
To support these goals, the website was designed to:
- Showcase interior design projects professionally.
- Communicate the studio’s Mid-Century Modern specialization.
- Explain services and the design process clearly.
- Establish credibility through project presentations and supporting content.
- Create a simple inquiry process for prospective clients.
- Support long-term visibility through SEO and educational content.
The website was structured as a multi-page experience that combines service pages, project case studies, educational content, and supporting business information designed to both inspire and convert.
01. Business Goals

02. Brand Alignment
The website was designed to express the same qualities that define the MCM Studio brand while creating a premium digital experience.
Inspired by the principles of Mid-Century Modern design, the interface emphasizes simplicity, balance, and functionality through clean layouts, generous spacing, and a restrained visual language. Every design decision was made to support the brand’s timeless character while maintaining a contemporary and sophisticated aesthetic.
Because interior photography is the studio’s strongest asset, the website avoids unnecessary visual complexity by using carefully structured layouts, consistent typography, and a considered color palette that allow each project to stand out while reinforcing the brand.

03. User Experience (UX)
The user experience was designed around the needs of potential clients researching interior design services.
Visitors are introduced to the studio’s philosophy before exploring its portfolio, learning about its services, and ultimately reaching a clear enquiry pathway. This progression helps answer common questions while gradually building confidence in the studio’s expertise.
Portfolio projects are organized into residential, hospitality, and commercial categories, making it easier for visitors to explore work relevant to their own projects and compare different types of spaces.
Every page follows a consistent structure, with clear navigation and a logical content hierarchy that allow visitors to move through the website intuitively without feeling overwhelmed by information.

SEO best practices were integrated from the earliest stages of the project to support search visibility.
Metadata optimization, internal linking, semantic heading structure, and a logical site architecture were all considered throughout the build to create a strong technical foundation.
The website architecture includes dedicated service pages, individual project case studies, and an educational blog, creating multiple opportunities to attract visitors through both service-related searches and educational interior design content.
Performance optimization was considered throughout the build to ensure fast loading times and a smooth browsing experience across desktop and mobile devices.

04. SEO & Performance Optimization
The website was custom designed and developed in WordPress using Elementor and Blocksy.
Its flexible structure makes it easy to expand over time, allowing new portfolio projects, services, and educational content to be added as the studio grows.
Responsive layouts, accessibility, and maintainability were considered throughout development to ensure the website remains easy to use, manage, and scale.
Note: This project is intentionally excluded from search engine indexing using the robots.txt file, which may affect the Lighthouse SEO score. Aside from this intentional configuration, the website follows the same technical SEO standards and best practices I apply to real commercial projects.

Design & Development
The Outcome
The project established MCM Studio as a distinctive interior design brand with a clear strategic foundation and a cohesive visual identity.
From positioning and messaging to the website itself, every element was designed to communicate the studio’s expertise, showcase its work, and create a consistent experience across every touchpoint.
Together, these elements provide a strong foundation for attracting prospective clients, supporting future growth, and allowing the brand to evolve as the business expands.
